THE 2021 Merino Muster

New Zealand's WorldLoppet Ski Marathon
4 September 2021

THE MERINO MUSTER - New Zealand's race

The Merino Muster is New Zealand's XC ski marathon.  It’s a 42km race across the stunning Pisa Range ski area at Snow Farm XC resort between Queenstown and Wanaka.

The Muster is the third stop on the 2021/22 WorldLoppet tour and follows hot on the heels of the Kangaroo Hoppet.  It’s a race that should be on every cross-country skiers bucket list and the next step for those chasing the goal of the WorldLoppet passport. And, If you need further inspiration, take a look at the 2019 event video made by World Loppet below!

why stay with Wanaka XC?

Since 2016, Wanaka XC have held event stays based around the Merino Muster event.  From the outset, we wanted to host a small, passionate group of international skiers with a wide range of abilities and share with them our knowledge, enthusiasm and laughter to make the best possible experience.

Sadly, due to the global pandemic, in 2020 we were not able to continue our run. But from the announcement in April 2021 of a trans-Tasman bubble, and free travel between Australia and New Zealand without quarantining for COVID-19, we're now able once more to open the offer to Australian skiers! (find latest NZ Government COVID-19 update here)

We have, once again, organised fantastic accommodation in an immaculate and comfortable house in Wanaka allowing you to experience life in one of the most beautiful mountain towns in the world.  We'll meet you at Queenstown Airport, provide all your meals, transport, ski expertise and race entry and preparation and cheer you on.

We also provide something else and that’s a chance to stay with a small group of like-minded cross country ski enthusiasts of all abilities, sharing in your passion and making your event so much more memorable!
